Michala Farrell (nee Stansfield)

Michala grew up in the Shoalhaven and attended the University of Wollongong, graduating in 2010 with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. Michala was admitted to practice in 2011. In 2020 Michala attained her status as an Accredited Specialist in Family Law, which is an acknowledgement of her expertise in the area of family law.

Shortly after graduating, Michala pursued her passion for Family Law by accepting a position as an associate in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia. This position provided Michala with some amazing insight into family law litigation and court processes, providing a great base for her future work as a family law practitioner.

Prior to opening Insight Legal Solutions, Michala worked as a solicitor in the Shoalhaven area from 2012 until 2019. Michala has practised primarily in the areas of family law, wills and estates. Michala also has experience in traffic offences and domestic violence matters. Michala has extensive experience in family law Court matters and has represented her clients in a range of matters, including complex property matters and serious parenting matters with significant risks of harm.

Michala has been mentored by very well-respected solicitors and benefited from the support of extremely experienced administrative support staff. Michala has worked with a diverse range of clients and legal matters, leading her to be a realistic, approachable and confident practitioner.

Michala is currently serving as the President of the Shoalhaven District Law Society. In the past, Michala has been a serving member in a number of community-based organisations, including the Shoalhaven Family Law Pathways Steering Committee, the Shoalhaven Business Association, and the Shoalcoast Community Legal Centre. Michala has also worked with the Domestic Violence Practitioner Scheme.

Lucy grew up in Nowra. She attended the Australian National University and graduated with Bachelor of Law and Arts (English and Political Science) in 2004 and was admitted to practice as a lawyer in 2005. In 2021 Lucy attained her status as an Accredited Specialist in Family Law, which is an acknowledgement of her expertise in the area of family law.

Prior to returning to Nowra, Lucy worked in criminal law including three years as a prosecutor at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in the ACT where she appeared in Court on a near-daily basis and worked on complex and serious criminal prosecutions including sexual assault and murder. She then worked at the Corruption and Crime Commission in Western Australia.

In 2010, Lucy came home due to her husband’s navy posting. Lucy has been in private practice in the Shoalhaven since then, focusing on family law, criminal law and estate planning. Lucy has been lucky to be mentored as a junior solicitor by very experienced and respected family and criminal practitioners in the area and, as a result, is a realistic, empathetic and creative lawyer who really looks after clients and their families.

Lucy is:

Collaborative law trained;
A Steering committee member of the Shoalhaven Family Law Pathways Network, helping shape the Family Law community in the Shoalhaven; and

Lucy loves living in and raising her two small children in the Shoalhaven.

Lisa brings a wealth of experience in family law, having practiced both locally and in Sydney. She is known for her empathetic approach and exceptional ability to quickly identify the key issues in dispute.

Lisa is dedicated to achieving practical, timely, and cost-effective solutions for her clients, with a strong focus on resolving matters through negotiation and alternative dispute resolution wherever possible. However, when court proceedings become necessary, she is a confident and skilled advocate who provides clear, strategic guidance throughout the process.

With a particular passion for helping families move forward in the best interests of their children, Lisa ensures her clients receive compassionate support and high-quality advice every step of the way.
